🧱 ArchiCAD (Graphisoft)

  1. Open your project.

  2. Go to FileSave As.

  3. Choose IFC File (*.ifc) as the file type.

  4. Select IFC 2x3 or IFC 4 (both are compatible).

🧰 Vectorworks

  1. Open your project.

  2. Go to FileExportExport IFC Project.

  3. Use the default IFC settings or select the appropriate template.

  4. Export and save the file.

🏗️ SketchUp (Pro version)

Requires IFC export plugin or extension:

  1. Install an IFC exporter from the Extension Warehouse (e.g. IFC Manager).

  2. Open your model and run the export tool.

  3. Save the file in .ifc format.

⚙️ Other CAD Software

Most BIM/CAD platforms have an IFC export option under FileExport or Save As.
If you're unsure, search your software’s Help section for “IFC export”.

Tips for a Successful Export

  • Export the full model (interior + exterior).

  • Include key details like structure, layout, and objects.

  • Your file size should be under 100MB. Removing layers can reduce the file size.

  • Name the file clearly, e.g. [property address_v2]
